Sometimes my mind rewinds;
I go back...
To drunken nights, frozen sidewalks that swayed,
Moonlit evenings of swinging playfully on poles,
And balancing across parking blocks...
I think back to that time,
And I miss you dearly...
But I know, with grim certainty,
That I can never go back to that.
It was my life once,
And you were my whole world;
I'll never forget the way you touched my life,
I'm lucky to have ever had you in it,
Even if I can't see you anymore...
I will always miss you,
There is a piece missing from my soul
That can be filled by no other...
I'll never forget the way you hurt me,
Whispering sweet words so softly...
Saying hello with your eyes;
Refusing to ever say goodbye.
Our souls know it,
They can easily recognize one another,
Even in the darkest darkness...
And sometimes, I swear,
I can still feel you,
Calling out to me from the void,
Beckoning me to return there...
But it's empty;
It's all so barren...
And I know,
And my heart knows, glumly,
I can never return to the wasteland...
I go back...
To drunken nights, frozen sidewalks that swayed,
Moonlit evenings of swinging playfully on poles,
And balancing across parking blocks...
I think back to that time,
And I miss you dearly...

I wrote this for the weekly prompt from here:
I hope I made it in time. Not sure if I'll be doing other prompts or not, but I will if the mood strikes me. I've been really wanting to write a nostalgia themed piece for a while anyway. I just wrote from the heart and poured my feelings onto the page. I hope you like it. c:
Theme of the Week #5Theme of the Week #5:
Hello again my pretties! (Bonus points to those who caught the movie reference!)
As promised, here's this week's prompt: NOSTALGIA!
Most of us have run across this emotion at some point in our life. Maybe we've been homesick, missing a loved one, or even just reminiscing on good times past. What does this feeling inspire in you? When have you felt this way before? Tell us all about those nostalgic feelings inside in this week's prompt!
As always, please place your submissions into the Theme of the Week folder in order to be featured in next week's journal! All submissions will be featured.
Extra:
In case you missed it, yesterday's journal highlighted several great poetry pieces from last week's theme as well as a few important group notes. If you have some spare time, I would encourage you to browse through it as it's well worth the read (for both
