Once there was an angel,
Who liked to look at everything,
With a piercing gaze,
She saw deep into things,
Where others could not fathom.

Every night she would drown,
Wondering what it meant,
That her wings were torn away,
And she fell so far.

Then some people came,
And tore off her wings,
Left her with them broken.

She never looked at her wings,
So she didn't know what color they were,
Because it never mattered to her,
She always assumed they were black,
Like her heart should have been.

She could never look behind her,
Couldn't stand seeing the sight,
Of wicked black tainted wings,
Looming behind her so unmercifully.

Then one day she met someone,
Who told her that her wings were beautiful,
And she didn't believe them.

No matter how much she wanted to believe,
She had lost all faith in anything,
Because of what had happened to her,
The fallen angel who had gone astray,
Was not a believer anymore.

They tried to make her fly,
With wings she thought were broken,
And still she could not look,
She fell even further away.

There came a day in which,
Her friend made her see the truth,
She couldn't look behind her.

So the angel looked at her wings,
Hanging on her shoulders in the mirror,
To see feathers of the purest white,
That had regrown perfectly,
To replace the ones that were torn.

It might be my label,
That other people gave me,
But you are my angel,
And I'm glad you are mine.
