Scars Inside

I wish that I were covered in scars…
At least that way,
The outside would match the inside.

Finally and forever…
That is what I see when I look into your eyes.
I cannot see your soul,
It's been sealed away.

There is no longer any way
To save the you that I once knew,

Like a great deluge in my heart,
The blood drenched waters
Are far too deep for me to ever escape.

With a flutter of wings like paper,

Killing me slowly…
I am your prey.

Feeling through your eyes
Beneath an artificial moon
In an imaginary sky…

There is no longer any light.

And all the scars
From all the stars
Go bleeding down the drain…
